Heavy Equipment Simulators

The Skid Steer Loader, also called skidsteer or skid loader, is a versatile, four wheel drive, mobile machine most often equipped with a bucket or forks to perform a wide variety of tasks in construction and material handling.

And because of its small size and simple operator controls, the skid steer loader is often considered entry level, where operator training begins.

Practically, danger is always present, and injuries are most often caused by rollovers. In particular, a skid steer loader will become unstable when the bucket or forks are overloaded, when carrying loads with the lift arms raised too high, or when driving up and down slopes. Clearly, for all of these reasons, operator training is especially important. Time for new simulator-based help!

Simlog’s new Skid Steer Loader Personal Simulatorthe world’s first, puts you at the controls of a typical skid steer loader equipped with either a bucket (there are two kinds) or forks, at work in a typical construction site.

Three configurations are offered for the simulator controls, to reproduce the most common kinds of operator controls in the cabin of real skid steer loaders (ISO, H-Pattern, Standard with pedals).

There are many software options to change the colours of the 3D model, to change the lift path type (lift arm geometry), and to select one of two buckets. And because a rear camera is increasingly present to improve safety, we’ve added a Rear Camera System to the simulation software functionality.

Like all our leading products, you can set up either one display in front where space is limited, three displays in front to create a 180 degree “panoramic” view, or three displays in front arranged side-by-side and a fourth display in the back.

And all you need is one off-the-shelf computer. Either purchase your own off-the-shelf  PC or choose the convenience of our PC bundle with Simlog software already installed, licensed, and ready to go.

Key Features

  • Highly realistic simulation graphics and physics
  • 8 Simulation Modules of increasing difficulty
  • 66 Performance Indicators to comprehensively evaluate the simulated work
  • 2 Procedure and Fatal errors to detect incorrect and unsafe operator actions
  • Many kinds of USB-ready simulator controls and mounting options
  • Three possible Joystick Patterns: ISO, H-Pattern, Standard Controls (with pedals)
  • Support for multiple displays
  • Configuration parameters to modify colours, lift path type, and bucket type
  • Viewpoints from inside and outside the cabin that can be changed during simulation
  • HD Instructional Video for each Simulation Module
  • e-book Instructional Companion

Replica Controls

Simlog’s Replica Controls for the Skid Steer Loader Simulator feature industrial strength USB-ready components suitable for both Tabletop Mounting with our Custom Travel Case, and our Operator Chair.

Three configurations are offered for the simulator controls, to reproduce the most common kinds of operator controls in the cabin of real skid steer loaders.

The most common configuration consists of two (multi-purpose) joysticks that you can also use with many other Personal Simulators, for either the “ISO” or “H-Pattern” joystick patterns. But you can also add Simlog’s Replica Controls Pedal Unit, featuring the very same toe-down/heel-down action of real skid steer loader pedals, the joystick pattern “Standard Controls”.

Simlog also offers tabletop mounting brackets to bring the joysticks down from table-top height to the sides of an ordinary chair, to better mimic the positioning of real controls in the cabin of real skid steer loaders.

If you already have Tabletop Replica Controls for some other Personal Simulator, then you may be able to “re-use” them for Skid Steer Loader, perhaps by purchasing additional elements. To learn more, please contact Simlog.

Possible Setups

There are three possible arrangements, one with a single display in front e.g. for wall-mounting, one with three displays in front, side by side, to present a 180 degree “panoramic” view, and one with three displays in front arranged side-by-side in landscape mode and a fourth display in the back (to teach people to turn their heads to look behind when backing up).

Custom Travel Cases for Replica Controls

For all setups, Simlog’s Custom Travel Case makes transportation easy.

Key Features

  • Made-to-measure, with dedicated slots for levers, joysticks, pedals, steering wheel, and tabletop mounting brackets
  • Space for a laptop PC, cables, and documentation
  • Pull-out handle, with multiple positions
  • Wheels (casters)
  • Cases are “stackable,” for easy transport

Specifications

  • Overall dimensions: 30" x 24" x 19"
  • Approximate weight: 50 lbs. when empty, up to 100 lbs. when full (depending upon the Replica Controls)

Operator Chair for Skid Steer Loader Personal Simulator

Simlog’s Operator Chair with industrial controls is a cost-effective way to train operators with our Skid Steer Loader simulation software in a safe and more realistic environment. It also offers a superior simulation experience, thanks to an authentic operator seat with consoles for the left and right hands, mounted on an industrial platform with casters, for easy portability.

The Operator Chair is configured with Simlog’s Multi-Purpose Replica Controls. Simlog’s Replica Controls Pedal Unit, where needed, completes the configuration with the very same toe-down/heel-down action of real skid steer loader pedals.

If you already have a Simlog Operator Chair for some other Personal Simulator, then you may be able to “re-use” that for Skid Steer Loader, perhaps by purchasing additional elements. To learn more, please contact Simlog.

Key Features

  • Authentic industrial operator seat, with headrest, air suspension, and seat-belt
  • Adjustable seat position (forwards/backwards, three vertical positions)
  • Adjustable armrests (in height and angle)
  • Integrated consoles for left and right joysticks
  • USB-ready Multi-Purpose Replica Controls and excavator pedals
  • Steel platform, with heavy-duty casters for easy portability

Possible Setups

There are three possible arrangements, one with a single display in front, one with three displays in front arranged side-by-side in horizontal landscape mode and one with three displays in front and a fourth display in back (to teach people to turn their heads to look behind when backing up).

Specifications

  • Overall Dimensions: L 60" x W 30" x H 47"
  • Weight: 330 lbs.
  • Shipping Dimensions: 67" x 43" x 44"
  • Shipping Weight: approximately 550 lbs. One unit per skid, not stackable.
  • 120 VAC/60 Hz, 220-240VAC/50 Hz

Vibration System

Vibration increases the realism of our Personal Simulators by adding physical (tactile) feedback to the audio and visual, making the experience more “immersive” at little additional cost, especially when compared to a motion platform.

The vibration that you feel is generated from the simulation software’s audio system as things happen. Engine idling, collisions with obstacles, digging virtual terrain, etc. can all be seen, heard and experienced! Adding vibration improves the realism of the simulation and makes the simulator-based training more compelling, encouraging trainees to be more serious and learn more carefully.

For our Operator Chairs, Simlog offers a vibration system that includes the “ButtKicker Simulation Kit” plus special mounting for the operator seat. The “ButtKicker” is a low-frequency sound transducer equipped with its own amplifier and “volume” controller to change the “force” of the vibration created by the simulation software sounds.
